Nano Aquarium, EI and Excel

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to plant a nano tank (lets say with HC and a few other plants not sensitive to Excel) and dose with EI along with Seachem Excel? Thus no co2 injection.

I was wondering if anyone has done this before and if so could you please give guidelines or tips on achieving this?

Thanks

Yep, worked pretty well for me in a 2 gallon setup. Growth is definitely slower than with pressurized co2 but can still be really solid. I switched to pressurized after the first 5 weeks. The glosso and mosses were going strong. Not sure about HC, no experience with that. Good luck, throw the tank up here when it's going!

Tom Barr himself has chimed in on this. If you can control the light you use so as not to drive the plants to require a ton of co2 it should be very possible. Hope you are a patient person! http://www.barrreport.com/showthread...on-CO2-methods

Yes, it's definitely possible. If you can though, I recommend saving up and get a pressurized system. You will not regret it, even in a 2 gal.
