2.5g on the dresser.

So my betta tank needs a rescape. I'm getting pressurized co2 and going from there. Maybe a new light too. And I don't like the filter. Everything should be upgraded ha.

Here it is now:
Toms mini internal
10w desk lamp
Some eco complete. Never used it before but received end of a bag from a friend for this tank.

Yes, there's a random h. ventricillata or two in there they sprouted after I thought it all died. Snail tore up the other floating there.
Lots of questions.
Should I keep the parva in there or go with something else?
What other carpet plants might you suggest?
Should I move out the anubias?
What about a plant for the background?
I want to limit this to like 2 species. Maybe a third if I keep the anubias, I'm not sure.
I have other pieces of wood I could use too but I would have to check what I have left and see of I like anything.

This is bat country.

In a low light tank you should probably ditch the parva, in low light conditions parva spreads slower than the continents. With only 10w of light I would opt for Christmas or Java moss instead.

The anubias should be just fine where they are at.

For a background plant I suggest some Java Fern. Any of the varieties should work (regular, narrow, windelov).

I'm going to upgrade everything. New light, new filter, and pressurized co2.
What light fixture would be reasonable?

Would like to order a new light fixture in time for the co2 setup to get here. Any suggestions?

I just use a daylight bulb and a desk lamp for my 2.5, but I'm not growing anything demanding.

What about suggestions for a new filter? I don't like internal filters for small tanks they take up too much room.

I was looking and I saw a few. I'm considering a finnex pf5 if anyone has any reviews on it. Amazon has it at 5 stars. I saw on here a Marina s10 has been recommended but I'm not sure if that would be too much flow for a betta. I have the filter from my fluval edge but it seems to large and clunky when I put it on there. A small and efficient filter is what I'm looking for I guess, not sure if there are any.

I have a Red Sea nano on my 3G. It works great.

I have that same one too, but mine was red sea aswell. Bought it at petco. Use it on my 2.5g. great little filter. I have to adjust the flow though(very strong for my 2.5).

Awesome I'm ordering now, I have $55 I can use from cash back through my discover card so I'm thinking I can use the rest for a new light to upgrade from my desk lamp sitting over it. Oh and it is a 13w spiral CFL in the desk lamp not a 10w. Any suggestions?

I was thinking maybe this one.

Edit: no this one has a 6500k lamp in it so I'd go for that instead.

I could go a bit more with a catalina lighthouse 10" 2x 13w power compact fixture with legs too. Might be a little too much and possibly invite algae in.

Fluval has a 13w clip on that should work for your setup. amazon link... http://amzn.com/B004QSV8XK

Then you can use the money you saved on a mini canister like a zoomed 501.

3+ gallon (40 x 16 x 20.5 cm) aquatic soil, low-tech
Fluval spec V (sitting in a box)

Decided to go with the finnex 26w clip on I linked above with the recommended azoo/red sea HOB. Was considering a canister but it would've probably been toms rapid mini if I did.

Sent from my GNex.
