One filter multiple tanks?

Hey guys, Anyone out there with multiple(2/3) small tanks(2.5-5gal) tanks connected too one filter?

Is this even possible? I was thinking of maybe starting alittle shrimp rack and was curious if theres a way to set it up with one filter for these tanks.
Will cut down on maintenance and also make the water alot more stable.

If you have a set up like this, Please post up pics.

Thanks
-Matt

Best way to do this is with individual sponge filters in my opinion. Then you can have one air pump split off to many airlines going into many small tanks.

Otherwise you are getting into some sort of siphon/sump/waterfall setup which is a logistical nightmare. That, and the water (if you did manage it) would be shared among the aquariums. This could end up being bad if one tank comes down with something.

This is typically how the LFS have their tanks setup. Holes are drilled in the back for the overflows and pvc piping runs to a larger filter, assuming a wet/dry with pumps running water back to the return in each tank. Its a whole lotta piping for a 2.5 and 5 gallon. Might be better off setting this up with larger tanks with a more stable water column.

The solution to pollution is dilution, linking tanks has benefit.

I have done this to success on tanks large and small but it's not for everyone.
I use siphons and 5w power heads.

I hooked up my 2.5 gallon tank to my 38 gallon tank using an overflow box and a powerhead.
