Smile Newbie Nano Question

I have an Eclipse Explorer 2g tank that I would like to make into a planted tank for my desk. It is the older model that does not have a light at all. Any ideas about how to retrofit it or add an external light that would be adequate for growing low-light plants?

Does that model have a hood? You could probably fit one of ahsupply's 13Watt deluxe bright kits in there. Another, possibly better, option would be to check ebay or other online fish stores for mini power compct fixtures that you could rest on top of the tank. This link will take you to ebay with a few mini power compact lights listed:

Obviously, the more watts you get, the better plant growth you would get. Good luck,

I have the exact tank as the original poster, and would also like to grow low-light plants in it.

Can anyone link me to an appropriate light source that could sit on the clear plastic window on top of the tank? I'll need to keep the hood on, as I have curious cats that would love to take a dip in an open-topped tank!

I think I'm looking for a CF light, but all I can find are bulbs. I'll need something sufficiently small to sit on the window.

Any help you can offer is much appreciated.
