6gal Puffer Nano Pics

Finally got some pix of my newly planted Puffer tank: There's stargrass, java fern, a soon-to-be-too-big sword, pennywort, wateryamajiggett, and a tiger lotus bulb.

2 puffers lurking!

He was still uploading...

Figgy, that is a sweet little tank! I am so jealous. (Looking at empty spot on desk waiting for a 6 gallon Nano puffer tank...)

Pretty sweet diggs for your puffers, I'm sure they are quite happy.

Looks great! I'm thinking about either one of those or a 5 gallon Eclipse hex as a cherry shrimp tank -- yours is great inspiration!

Lucky lucky puffers, I have 2 and they were originally with 15 red cherries shrimps and had no problems with them either. They left the shrimps alone and just picked on each other.

I then moved them to another 10 gallon and now they are housed with 6 ghost shrimps, 6 Kerri tetras and 2 ottos. They leave everyone else alone.

I must be quite lucky then, they only chase each other around the tank. It is medium planted and they do play hide and seek though.

I have read that if you have the true dwarf puffers, they usually get along with other species of fish.

How much and lighting?

Figgy,

I was wondering about how much you paid for the cube? I was also wondering if you swaped out the lights. The nano cubes generally come with 50/50 bulbs don't they? Also, do you know of a DIY light upgrade kit for the 6 gallon?

Hi,

FYI:

I've bought my plants from AquaBotanic and Aquariumplants.com

The 6 gal. JBJ Nanocube cost $112 incl shipping and comes wwith a decent 18 watts of light from a compact fluorescent that the Aquariumplants.com folks swapped out for me, no charge. They could probably help you with upgrades. There are also 2 moonlight bulbs as well which I love at night. I unplugged the 2 fans because of the noise they made, though.

HTH,
Figgy
