Five gallon planted betta tank ideas

Hello!
For christmas im going to be planting my moms 5 gallon betta tank for her.
Im going to modify the hood to hold two two CFL lights probably ten watts each so im thinking that with them sitting horizontally in the hood i should get high end low light and lower end medium light...

I used this thread to come to this assumption...
https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/li...r-bulbs-2.html

Im going to be using mgocpm too, capped with pool filter sand.
I have some anubias, and java fern i can use so far and one banana plant from other tanks.

I was also thinking of using ludwiga repens and some corkscrew val for some height.

I was also wanting maybe some kind of carpet like plant that stays shorter that i would be able to grow with this lighting. Im not too plant savy and every website has different descriptions on the same plant. So i figured maybe you guys could lead me in the right direction here!

Any advice/suggestions/questions would be healpful!!

Thanks!
Jasmine

try out blyxa for your background and some floating plants to shade the low light plants.

FWIW I've got 7.9 gallons and a DHG foreground. When I added DIY CO2 it really came to life. 26 watts CFL about 12 inches over the substrate.
