EBI or 2.5?

Hey guys!
I'm a college student and over break I really want to set up a tank. I'm thinking I would want to do an iwagumi setup but not totally sure. I'm debating on whether to get an EBI or get a 2.5 gallon and derim it. I've derimmed tanks before so that won't be a problem. I would most likely run paintball co2 on it. The ebi always looks really straight up and down but the dimensions say it is a cube. Just looking for advice on what I should get!
Thanks!

or what about a finnex 4 gallon, the whole system deal. I like that the ebi comes with everything including a good substrate though.
If I went with the ebi I'd most likely get another 13w light as well.

I'd say go with the Ebi and forget about even using the light that comes with the tank and don't get to. Go and get a finnex light it's 26W and I love mine!!!!

The Finnex Deluxe and the Fluval Ebi is in the same price range. IMO, I would go with the Finnex Deluxe for more bang for the buck.

The Finnex is 4 gallon rimless tank, canister filter and flouresent 26 watt light with 2 blue led lights. I do have the PSX 360 canister filter and the 2 of their 26 watt lights and I really like them.

The Fluval Ebi (I have the flora) internal filter is so-so (and from my experience, noisy) and the power compact light is 13 watts. I got another fluval light and replaced the filter with a eheim 2213. The ebi/flora does have a bigger rimless tank which comes with a glass lid.

Hmmm. I hadn't thought of using the 26w finnex light on the ebi. I really like the cube design on the ebi and from pictures i've seen, the filter is pretty easy to hide. ahh! ha ha. I might go with the ebi because there's more room for stems in the back if i wanted to add them because they'd have the extra height. I'll still think though.

I don't know if you can find a place that sells different kinds of rimless tanks. Here in socal you can find cheap rimless tanks made from sources overseas for fairly cheap. That would be the cheaper route if you don't want to use the stock filter/light from the ebi/flora.

I'd opt for the Ebi (I'm biased, admittedly) so you have more water available for plants in a footprint that isn't much larger than that of a 2.5gal.

The Fluval/Ebi lighting is great. You can easily fit three of the light fixtures on the tank with the cover - or four without the glass cover. They're cheap and are an easy addition.

If you end up not liking the filter, stick it on eBay and buy a cheap canister.

No matter what you decide, you've got good options.
