Looking for 1g

I'm considering setting up a 1 gallon tank on my desk. Are there any nice kits available that are suitable for planted tanks? I need something square to fit in the space I have available.

I have one of these. The light is not made for plants.....but the acrilic pops off the base and the rim pops off the top of the tank. The top usually sits on the black rim but can sit on just the acrilic too, its the same size.
Right now i have mine all taken apart and am just using the tank and not the base or rim, i am using just a desk lamp for lighting but i will be making adjustments to the light to be able for it to hole a CFL bulb.

This is what mine looks like...

Well, I did it! I bought a Marina Cubus. At the moment, the paint on the back is drying. I purchased a flat, round mat-type betta bowl heater for it since we tend to keep the house quite cool in the winter. The popular consensus is the LED light that comes in the kit sucks. I tend to agree with that assessment. I have a clamp lamp that I'm going to put a cfl bulb in. I know a 6500K daylight bulb is best but what wattage should I be looking at? I would think something very low.

9w is the smallest easy to find that I know of in a screw type CFL but with some detective work you might be able to find smaller. Definitely not any bigger than that. Im running the Tom clip on light that normally comes with the Tom 1 gallon kit. Pretty sure that light is a 7w. Working well so far with some crypts, anubias, and java fern in my Cubus...

Hmmm....I'd be looking more toward low-medium lighting. I'm thinking of using Anubias nana petite, Fissidens and Marsilea Minuta. Maybe even a wee bit of Staurogyne Repens.

i bought a 4w cfl online....as you can't find one in stores this low. so if you want a lower watt light, check 1000lightbulbs.com pretty good prices too.

Well, I ended up with Anubias Nana petite, a small java fern (thinking that will need to come out very soon) and some various mosses.
