Rescaped my tank - second thoughts HELP

So, I rescaped my Ebi (again) and kicked up a [censored]storm of dust and substrate. My concern is that I have over 40 CRS in there. I did my WC and added extra prime. Is there anything else I should do? I REALLY cannot afford to have an ammonia spike from the substrate (fluval stratum). I will never use fluval stratum again. Ever.

I don't think stratum even leaches ammonia, but don't quote me on it.

I too did NOT detect any ammonia from Fluval Shrimp Stratum.

Not saying that it does. I know it doesn't. But stirring up substrate like that can cause an ammonia spike. With any substrate.

In that case, why did you say you would never use Fluval Stratum again?

Because it clouds so easily and is too light. The tank looks like a swamp when you rescape. Really, it does.

Disturbing the substrate just a like bit is enough to create a small "cloud". To deal with the cloud during set up, I used Fluval Quick Filter Cartridge. Within hours, water became clear as a crystal.
