Chumlee's EBI Reef Tank

This EBI's been through a lot!

Now it's having a try at saltwater

First off...let me just say that I had to fix the light myself being that the bulb blew out (It's a common problem). It takes a semi-common 2-pin CFL Light so I just cut the extra piece that goes around the bulb (to screw into the fixture) and put that around the new bulb...problem solved.

Filter: Eheim Ecco 2232 & A very small powerhead that's like 80gph

Light: Stock 13w EBI Fixture with 5000K Light. Soon to be 50% 10000K / 50% Actinic Bulb

Substrate: Live Sand

Flora/Coral: Right now I have none...I plan on getting some lower light and hardier ones in a month or so. this is my first saltwater tank so I want to learn a little bit more and get used to having a stable tank before I start with coral.

Fauna
: Right now I have like 5 hermit crabs (tiny ones) and 1 Yellowtail damsel. The damsel is just to cycle the tank, although he does look nice, and I already talked to the LFS about bringing him back when I am done cycling the tank.

Future Fauna: One shrimp (Not sure what kind yet)
2x Clown Fish (also not sure what species yet)
Some emerald crabs

TO-DO/BUY LIST
:

13mm Lily pipe set w/ Clear filter tubing.

50/50 10000K/Actinic Bulb

Inline Heater - (Do they make them for a tank this small? If I got a bigger heater would it still be OK being that it's adjustable and is only set for a specific temperature?)

MORE LIVE ROCK

Some Mushrooms or polyps or something

PICS: (Im expecting it to look like more of a reef tank once I get the white/blue bulb.)

I vote for sexy shrimp too but not so sure will the damsel let him alone. Haha

or if you can readily get food for them, Harlequins can be interesting.

So...I got rid of the damsel and added 2 clown fish (NANO sized....sooooo small. I understand they'll grow.) and a peppermint shrimp. I have a bit of aptasia on one of the pieces of live rock so I needed the peppermint species in particular because they are the only ones that eat the aptasia.

Cost of EBI- 90 bucks
Replacement bulb - 11 bucks (im getting another though...a blue-ish one)
Live Rock - 40 bucks
Live sand - 10 bucks
Filter - 100 about
powerhead - 10 bucks
fish - 30 bucks

I had everything except the sand/rock/fish.

I ALSO FORGOT TO MENTION....

My friend has an RO system and he agreed to let me take as much water as I need for my tank. It is currently being run on RO water.

Having said that...If I was to keep any of my planted tanks with this RO water I would have an ada quality tank lol..I have had such nice hardscapes, all of the equipment, but my water kept holding me back. I have water that's worse than liquid rock...and it also is run through a water softner.

This thread is making my life very difficult. I was content with my 5 established running tanks. I love my 75g and 46g. I also love the RCS that will be going into the 10g once the bully Angelfish gets readjusted and goes back into the 46g. The 20g is for OEBT's that I'll be acquiring soon. The 29g on the other hand is not something I ever even look at.

That tank really tied the room together

It is so nice to see normal clowns, no snowflakes that sort of thing. It makes me want a saltwater tank again.
