5.5 gallon jungle

Hey all, I'm new here and would like to show you my latest project. It's not really scaped atm, but I am thinking about moving stuff around in the near future. I've mostly been seeing what would grow in there, and so far I've been pretty successful. Anyways, the specs:

standard 5.5g tank
27 watts of cfl
whisper hob filter
small heater hiding in the filter
diy co2
mud bottom, capped with black fluorite
lots of branchy driftwood

flora:
rotala rotundifolia
crypt wendtii
hygrophila difformis

fauna:
neon tetras 7
crowntail betta just added 3 days ago

So, let me know what you think, how I should move things, and generally tear me up with criticism, and I would very much appreciate it

Not bad, out of curiosity how many fish do you have there total? I think you may have too many in there for that tank and it may cause problems.

How does the betta get along with the tetras? Both of mine absolutely will not have any other tank inhabitants.. they try chasing even the apple snails out and they are 3x larger than the bettas.

Thanks for the compliment and your concern, but no worries!

Total number of fish can easily be calculated from my first post. The tank has been set up in its current state for two months, and for more than 6 months with the same fish before that. I haven't had any losses since I brought the tetras home 8 months ago and 3 died over night. However, I am careful not to overfeed, and my population of ramshorns and trumpet snails is a great indicator when I do

The betta and other fish don't pay any attention to each other, and usually the betta is too busy flaring at his reflection to even go after the snails

I think a minor re-scape is gonna happen in the next couple days, any suggestions anyone? I definitely want to move the rotala towards the back, but don't know from there. Anything I should get rid of or add more of?

Update!

Update time! I moved the rotala to the back left, and added some dwarf hairgrass. It's really started to take off, but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I think it really adds to the jungle look, though, so that's good. The rotala is looking good, but it doesn't want to grow vertical! Any tips would be great.

This is about 2.5 weeks ago...

And yesterday...

The wisteria is really taking over since I added some jobes fertilizer sticks.

And the hairgrass

As you can probably tell from some of the pictures, I am battling with all sorts of thread/hair algae. I keep pulling it out every time I see it, but it just keeps coming back... any suggestions?
