Getting back into Planted Tanks

Hello. It's been quite a few years since I had my last FW planted tank, however I just love the peacefulness these tanks bring. Simplicity and ease of care is something I also enjoyed about my last tank. This go around I plan on setting up a nano (Less than 20G) tank. I'm limited on space and have a few tank options which I'd like for some expect input on. I want something with a more contemporary style. Tanks that come to mind include the following.

1. Fluval Ebi/Flora. My LFS has one and the sleekness and design of the tank is a big eye catcher.
2. Eclipse 12G. Not as nice as the Fluval, however more space. I added this setup only because I work at Petsmart and we have the tank's on clearance for $60 bucks.

I'm sure there are more, but I don't want to pay an arm and leg. These smaller tanks can fit on a smaller desk or counter top. Smaller size doesn't necessarily equal out to easier care but it'd definitely be easier to maintain with my schedule.

As far as fish go I really would love to put a pair/trio of Blue Rams. It's been awhile since I kept FW fish so my knowledge is jaded on some species, however I'd love some sort of dwarf cichlid and possibly tetra or smaller schooling fish setup. Any suggestions for these size tanks? Also any additional input please let me know. Not in a hurry to set up one yet as I'm in the process of moving and currently have a nano-reef tank I have to move. I just want to refresh my memory and see what's new in the planted tank world.

I would go with the fluval tank but it might not be big enough for cichlids.

Just FYI you could probably get a do!aqua Mini-M or Mini-L/45-P for roughly the same price as an ebi or flora.

You probably wouldn't be able to keep rams in a nano like that but a small school of tetras would be no problem.

Wabi Kusa is just an Aquascape Katamari

Welcome back to the planted tank hobby! I can understand how you feel as I'm a 'revival' planter too! ^^
