Rili small pico - 1/2 gallon

*Please hit refresh to autoresize photos, sorry!*

Have you guys seen this little pico at walmart? It's my holding tank for my rili inbreeding project.
Drilled some small holes in the bottom of the "betta divider." It's now the now the "filter area divider" for a little bit of undergravel filter effect. My husband cannibalized an IKEA LED light to stick on the lid.

Big filter bacteria house aka lava rock

Lined the bottom of the tank with gravel for more bacteria colonization. Rinsed the rock and the gravel with hot water, that's what that misty white stuff is from.

I was hoping the Dive Clean filter would fit in the little area but it ends up being a tiny bit too tall with the water director thing. Ended up using some poret and some filter mat in the filter area with the mini powerhead on top. Still thinking about what I want to do back here.

Added some Azoo Plant Grower Bed on the backside of the lava and stuck a bit of HC there. Also added this sad mini crypt I found floating in the plant dungeon. Not sure if that LED is going to keep anything alive, but if it doesn't I can always throw in some anubias petite nana for some greenery.

Makes for a nice tiny desk pico. And the shrimp seem to be happy too. The lady in front is the whole reason for this project, she has a blue tint to her flesh. Hoping to create fire and ice rili

Sorry about that, I crop all my aquarium pics to 5x7 then trash the originals; I'm lazy and rely on the forum to resize them. Not sure why it's kind of finicky this time.

I know, I know. But think of it as glacier ice. Blue

Yes, patchy cherries. They're called Rili.

Thank you Couldn't find any plants in my plant dungeon small enough for it. I think it's maybe 4 inches high. I'm going to be on the lookout at my local club this weekend for good lowlight pico plants like marsilea minuta and such.

It was like 4.75 or something like that! It's made of the CD cover acrylic so it's pretty low quality, but for under 5 dollars I thought it was a steal!

Cool tank. How often will you WC? How about a Mini-HMF with your poret and powerhead?

I was going to do mini HMF but it couldn't hold the gravel. Might just add a tiny baggie of puragen and call it a day.
As for water changes it's most likely going to just be top offs and maybe change 50ml a month, the tank is so tiny and the shrimp produce such a small bioload that I think the water should stay relatively clean.

Five. Three females from the purpleish line from Outlawboss and two rili males. They'll be moved to a 2.5 after it gets cleaned up and set up, eventually

idk about 1ce a month, i recommend changing 90% the water(leave enough for shrimp to comfortably sit there) at least once a week. its important to have clean fresh water coming in each week. plus its too easy at 1/2 a gallon...
