Itty bitty low light 1.5

So I have a (sparsely) planted nano tank, and I have a few questions. I'ts been going almost a month with a couple endlers in there, and they seem to be pretty happy and pregnant. I think its... 1.5 gallons? (I am going to have so much fun when they have babies. *cries*) I plan to have a cherry shrimp in there once my cherries decide to have babies.

I have gravel, hornwort, chunks of what was once a marimo and Vallisneria spiralis (...I think. If not, its some tall thin grass that people refer to as some Italian variety of something.), rocks and driftwood. I have an undergravel filter and horrible light.

But... uhmmm... How do I clean it? Like, without tearing it down and rebuilding. How do I vacuum the gravel or whatnot? I'm very acquainted with external power filters you see.

Also, what would be some good plants to hide the babies in? I'm not very good at plants, and I'm kinda poor right now. They don't need to be fast growing, cause, 1.5 gallons, but my light is really really bad. (But my grass IS growing. Which I didn't expect in there.)

So far I have... Java moss. Which I've been trying to find locally, but I guess I'll have to buy it online soon.

...Not as related, but when can I start messing with stuff after they have babies? I'm kinda afraid to put my hands or anything in there until they're a little bigger than fresh little fishies.

Thanks~
