Smile My first real planted tank.

My new thing is trying to grow some great plants. I have the fish thing down. I have been keeping fish for over 10years. My tanks are full and I am happy. So what more to do then move on to plants. I have plants now and been keeping some easy ones for a few years. So it's time to move on and do a tank for the plants.

Here is the set up
10gal basic 20"x10"x12"
Lighting: is 2x20watt CFL and that's 1190 lumes each from 9am-7pm
Substrate:is Eco-Complete Plant Substrate
Tap water: ph 8.0
Ferts : diy co2. excel when co2 slows down , flourish, flourish iron, and flourish nitrogen.

Cryptocoryne pontederifolia
Sword ( temp it's small now)
Crypt balansae
Anubias barteri "Round Leaf"
Java moss
Didiplis diandra "Water Hedge"
Hemianthus Callichtroides
Mayaca fluviatilis
H. leucocephala

Fish are
1 male betta
5 neon tetras
2 Oto
2 Pygmy cory ( I had more but they did not make it.)

Here is the tank so far it's kind of not organized well. I hope once the plants fill in the back it will look better.

How am I doing so far? Any pointers any ideas on how to make it look better. I want to add a branch with moss but not sure where it would go.

Thanks that's mr sexy. He is 3 years old and had a rough life. I had him alone then kept him with many different fish in tanks too deep. The 10gal was set up for him mainly at first. it's his retirement home.

He is a delta tail copper.

impressive, did you get him at an LFS or from an online breeder/vendor?

he looked even better when I first got him. He had A case of fin rot for a little bit when my daughter was a new born. I did not have time to keep his tank clean poor guy. He recovered well. I put this guy to the test.

I bought him at petco. The one near me gets some really awesome bettas.

Ah yes Petco has become notorious recently for providing some very nice bettas compared to other stores (by recently i mean within the last 2 years). They must have really outsourced to some of the nicer breeders in Thailand.

I got this guy 3 years ago. Yes petco must be getting bettas from better breeders.

Thanks razalas. The plants are growing like weeds but I am not that crazy with the lay out. It will change soon the plants will be the same.

The plants are growing like weeds here they are now. I moved some around and took a few out.

I love that I got this plant free because it was just bits of floating left overs.
