500 lumen (6W LED) for low-tech set-up?

Hi all!

First post on this forum. From The Netherlands

I have a question about my recently set-up Dennerle 30L (7 gallon) nano cube. Which I plan to run as a low tech/maintenance tank.

This set-up came with a 6W LED (500 lumen), and I wonder if this light will be enough for the long run? Especially when plants start to grow more and cover off others from the relatively low light they. Also I'm planning the add some nice red root floaters.

Currently the tank if planted with slow growers such as crypto wendtii, crypto crispatula, bucephalandra kedagang, small leave java fern, and some floaters.

Wondering if might need to go for a light upgrade

Keeping a planted tank is a balancing act . Light , ferts , etc have to be in a balance for things to be "right" . You can try the light you have and see how the plants react . I think most of the plants you have will do ok with low light . Just remember it takes time and patience to get a planted tank going . It really depends on what you want . If you want low tech then do low tech and get it going . Low tech does not mean no ferts , you just have to get it balanced . I am sure other more knowledgeable folks on here will chime in with more advice .

My wife says if I get one more aquarium she is going to leave me . I sure am going to miss her fried chicken .
