Unhappy Plants turning brown and melting (Jungle val and

Hi friends, I am new to this hobby and this forum....i tried setting up a 10g planted tank....Got jungle val from amazon and Anacharis from petco....the jungle had arrived as shown in pic 1...i planted both plants in fluval substrate....after a week the plants slowly started turning brown and then melting....What am i doing wrong here?
I maintain a temperature of 73....PH 7.5 KH 40 GH 140 NO2 0 NO3 0
It has been 18 days since i planted the plants. I have changed about 25% of water every week (2 times so far). Also, i trimmed the leaves after they started melting.

Many plants will melt off when first introduced because of changes in water chemistry.

What are your PH, KH and GH of tank?

How long has tank been setup and did you/are you cycling tank?

Well you are definitely not changing enough water. Fluval stratum is an active substrate and requires a 50% water change every day for the first week. Every other day for week 2. Three times in week three. And twice in week 4. Once a week there after.

Start by changing the water every day for a few days then going to where you should be in the schedule. Give it a few weeks and see if you spot new growth. You can cut off anything dead.

Shipping in winter vals don't do so well with the cold...not sure about petco plant they don't know how to care for any of their 'products' to being with.
Are you dosing Seachem Excel? Both plants will die from that.

Due to photobuckets new bs cost for use of images on forums I have deleted all photobucket accounts. I apologize if you enjoyed or found my photos helpful.

Your nitrates are 0, that means plants cannot create chlorophyll and cannot absorb an energy from the light so they are melting.
