Stringy cobwebs while trying to cycle new tank!
I've been thrust into the fish world as my child was given a betta fish as a gift! It came with the tiniest little bowl and some food - that's it! I knew nothing about fishkeeping but immediately bought it a 2.5 gallon tank and put it in. Didn't know about cycling tanks, heaters, water changes, nothing!
Well I've been reading and learning and have since bought a 10 gallon innovative marine nuvo tank which I've been cycling for over 2 weeks. I added a few plants, some substrate that's supposed to speed up the process and was putting fish flakes in almost every day. To speed up the process I added Tetra Safe Smart last night and was hoping to finally move the little guy over today. Lo and behold, I wake up to the tank filled with stringy cobweb looking things! They are mostly along the glass and seem to have infiltrated one of the java moss plants. I believe it's some form of algae, Help! what do I do? What am I doing wrong? We really need to move the betta over asap as we need the space in the house where his current tank resides.
Any info or help is much appreciated! TIA!
