Fusion IM 10- Intake Cover

Hey Everyone,

I have a 10 Gallon Innovative Marine tank (Fusion 10) that is planted and I just got some amano shrimp. However, I noticed that they continuously wind up in the first chamber on top of my filter floss. It is probably because the slits that the water enters the chamber in are large enough for the shrimp to enter. Do you all have any suggestions on how to prevent this? Maybe some kind of cover for the slits that still lets the water through? Please ask me if you need more information and thank you as always for your knowledge.

My advice would be to use filter floss in the top of the media basket. This should trap the shrimp so that you can put them back. I HIGHLY recommend not using the intake strainer by IM for planted tanks, depending on plant type. For my tank, I had stems and other plants. The stems dropped leaves while converting to submersed growth. The leaves blocked the intake strainer and had I not seen it happen, the display would have flooded. Additionally, if using the stock lid, if water reaches the bottom of the lid "standoffs" (clear acrylic things) they will create a siphon and slowly leak water out of the tank.
