I have been out of the hobby for about 6 years now after my high tech tank with a bad needle valve killed every fish in my tank over night, when I discovered my fish dead in the morning I tore the tank down and have not done a tank since.
This week my son said he wanted a fish tank and I found a Fluval edge online for next to nothing. After some cleaning and a new filter this is what I threw together. This is just after filling with water.Click image for larger version

Gorgeous! What fish are you considering? How many gallons is it? I just got my first tank this fall, after being put in charge of the fish at work last winter & falling in love with the whole thing, lol. Mine is a tiny 5 gallon Marineland portrait, with a few mystery snails & a dozen cherry shrimp.

I'm glad you're back into tanks, even if by proxy, and the tank looks great. I love my 6 gal Edge. Good to know I can "blame" my next tank on my son (!)

I plan on getting some neon tetras and a couple of shrimp. It’s a six gallon Fluval edge with a Fluval 18 inch led light.

Oh, I'm betting the bug will bite again. I see a new tank on the horizon. He's back.

I need to figure out where to get a carpeting plant that will work with little to no ferts and no co2. I Tried hair grass in my high tech tank but hated it, it was impossible to keep clean. Anyone have any suggestions?

Did I mention I was jealous of your work around with the tank being "for your son?" I'm trying to talk my boys into small tanks, just so I can play more, LOL!

It’s working out great my son is feeding the fish and turning the lights on and off. All I’m doing is water changes, which only takes 10 to 15 minutes. It’s been great so far!
