Light for 12” cube

I have a 12” cube that I’m attempting to grow a glosso carpet in. There is a pretty steep slope built that goes from about 8” high at the back down to 1” in the front with plans of glosso covering all areas.

So far I’ve experimented with 3 lights combinations.

1 - a single wave point HO 8 LED 8 watt lamp
This worked ok to kick things off using dry start method but everything seemed to be growing too tall as it was reaching for light so I added a second I had laying around.
2 - based on post above I was now running 2 wavepoint 8 watt HO LED fixtures.
This seemed to work really well, but one of them started going out and I didn’t like the look of using two fixtures
3 - cheap aqueon planted tank clip on light
This is where things got interesting. It was cheap so I figured I’d give it a shot. I still noticed new growth, but the longer more established stems kept growing longer and started turning red. Light was also a little too blue for me. Was this caused by this light?

So now that leads to my question. What is the best fixture to use for this setup that will provide the lighting I need to stop the stems from growing tall and turning red? I will be running co2 once I fill the tank. Would like a budget friendly fixture if possible.

I was thinking to point you towards Kfactor’s 10g with AiPrime light - he’s on it already. Perhaps pricey, but I don’t know your limits. He shows good success with short compact growth.
On the other side of things (cheap), I’ve got examples of good growth with a Home Depot purchased LED flood light, on a 55gal (small planted area) and also as a helper on a 40b.
Also, the Fluval compact fluorescent fixture has worked well for me for years.

I can only grow plants when they're completely under water. Everything else is doomed.

Thanks for the suggestions. So far these three look interesting. Anyone have any input on these for a high light setup?

I think I’m gonna give the Asta 20 a go. After much research I was able to find PAR data on it and it seems quite powerful.

With 60 degree lens
At 12”
120 dead center
115 at about 8” dia circle
45 at 20” dia
At 8”
295 dead center
256 at 6” dia circle
90 at 13” dia circle

With 180 degree lens
At 12”
75 dead center
55 at 15” dia circle
15 at 30” dia circle
At 8”
150 dead center
107 at 11” circle
20 at 22” circle

Figured this info may be good for others on here. Seems like more than enough for my needs and it’s fully dimmable so it seems like a great budget friendly option. Anyone have any good or bad experience to share?

I am also looking for something similar to this. So did you get that Asta 20 light? How did that work out for you? How is the carpet?
