DSM Monte Carlo to low tech

Hey everyone,
I am starting up a small 2.5g nano shrimp tank and want to have a small carpet of Monte Carlo in there.
I want it to be a low tech dirted tank, probably with MGOPM for substrate with a cap of black diamond sand.
My main question is, would it benefit from doing a dry start method with MC first then flood it after it establishes a nice carpet?
Or will they just melt after I fill it since I won't be injecting co2 or excel dosing.
