New to hobby! RCS

Hello,

I had started working at Petco late last year and absolutely fell in love with the aquatics department and had gotten a 55g as my first tank which is going well. I have 3 Honey gourami, 6 neon tetras, and had gotten quite a few Cherry Shrimp (ended up dying and eaten). Shrimp are definitely my favorite and have since gotten two small tanks (imagitarium 3.5g & tonight 6.2g) the 3.5 has 5 cherries and a few plants hair grass and whatnot.

After having the tank cycled and plants being put in two of my rcs died, no ammonia, NO2, No3 5-10, ph steady at 7.6, gh around 75 and Kh 120. Was not using Ro water though just tap I had dosed and aged a few days. Since then have been doing small water changes and drip acclimating Ro water in. TDS is around 150s now. They seem to be doing ok but not really molting as well as I would have hoped.

The 6.2 just got and set up, will be removing the back filter area and adding a sponge filter, air stone, and plants when cycled. Just used treated tap but will be getting RO filtration tds is around 600 now with only air stone. I’m using FluvalSmart stratum in both tanks. When 6.2 is ready that will be my breeder and the 3.5 my fry tank.

Also in the 3.2 just noticed lots of Cyclops and detritus worms I think tracked in on the shrimp (petco) I didn’t have them before that I saw. Will they be harmful? Should I leave them? Any and all tips on RCS care, breeding, what I should do differently, etc is greatly appreciated. I am doing as much research as I possibly can for my little guys to be healthy so everything helps!

Welcome! I just started keeping shrimp a few months ago myself and have been having fun!
Check out the subforum "Shrimp & Other Invertebrates" for lots of shrimp keeping advice/suggestions.
I'm not sure I'd know a cyclops if it bit me on the bum. Can you provide a picture? Guess they might be too small.
I have detritus worms as well, but never read any reason to be worried about them.
Again, read through the shrimp forum here and have fun. I'm sure if you post there you'll get the help you need.
