I am starting a 2.5 gallon tank. It's a glass cylinder 9.5 inches high and 8.5 inches in diameter. The distance from the substrate to the top of the tank is 7.5 inches.
I am starting with low light plants at first, but may change them out for others. For now, I will be planting Anubias Barteri Nana, Java Moss and Dwarf Sag. I'd like advice for these low level plants as well as higher light level demanding plants.
I want to use a desk lamp with a traditional socket, so I'm thinking I want an LED with a traditional bulb shape. From what I understand, I want it to be 6500k.
But how many watts do I want? Or lumens?
If the light is too strong, can I just move it farther from the tank, or put some sort of translucent cover over it? I was thinking about a black plastic mesh material for that.
