16inch Finnex FugeRay Planted+ too strong for 5.5 gallon

Newbie here. Quick question.

is the Finnex FugeRay Planted+ LED Light ( 16 inch) too strong to for a 5.5 gallon plant tank? I'm planning on using a co2 injection setup and would like to grow high light plants. Worried that it will be too strong and I will be fighting with algae.

I have exactly one of those on a Fluval Spec V Aquarium Kit, 5-Gallon. Seems great to me. I've never had a LED light before so I'm wondering if it's actually powerful enough. I've only had it a little over a week so I can only speak to how it appears and it seems fine. Maybe somebody has a similar setup with more experience?

I had one in my spec v. You’re fine, just watch your tank for algae.

I have a 16" Planted Plus on my Spec V. I battled with hair algae for a bit until I added a dimmer. I run it at 75% for a few hours with a tapered "sunrise/sunset" for a couple hours before and after. Plants are doing great now. It can be anywhere for high to very high intensity at 100% depending on your substrate depth.

I have a 20" planted plus 24/7 CC on my spec v and have had to dial the intensity way down and increase the hours of lights off while my red root floater and duckweed take over the surface of the tank to block light. This is with pressurized co2 and EI ferts.

I'm down to about 6 hours of 60% intensity to fight back against some spyrogyra. I'm winning.

My tank journal.

I have used both https://www.amazon.com/Leegoal-LEDwh...rds=pwm+dimmer and https://www.amazon.com/RGBSIGHT-Prog...ble+pwm+dimmer. These are not plug and play per say but it's pretty easy to wire yourself. Just have to cut power supply output cord and then strip 4 wires and screw them into dimmer. Or you can hunt down connectors that fit the finnex and run them off the dimmer so you can just unplug them whenever you need to.

If you're not feeling confident enough to do wiring work, then just grabbing some black window screen material for a few cents at a hardware store works very well. Just cut it to size and tape it to the bottom of the light. It will diffuse a lot of the light reaching the tank.
