Pico nano help

Any one have experience with ultra small tanks? I’m having trouble keeping some plants planted, and some plants seem to get “cut” inch or two from top. I suspect my snails are uprooting the plants and maybe pond snails topping the plants but here’s what doesn’t make sense, only 1 anubias Nana Petit keeps getting uprooted. And I have assasin snails and I pick out the pond Snail babies. Never seen one bigger than a comma on this page. I would imagine the merited uprooting more than just the 1 plant, and I can’t seem to see tiny pond snails chopping down the tops in one night, when theoretically they are gone when I see them or the assasins eat then? The bigger tank is approx 1.5 Gal, nerites, assasins, hara jerdoni, badis badis, neicaridinia davidi, and the smaller tank is .9 gal, same fawna plus imnopilos naiyanetr. Any ideas?
