Ideas on Floaters?

I love Red Root Floaters, but have read that they can be sensitive to temperature changes. My low tech 5 gallon nano tank does fluctuate in temperature from 68 to 80 degrees (but it usually stays between 74 to 78), and so far all my other plants and creatures have been fine with it. I'm looking for a hardy floater with roots for shrimp and fry that is equally hardy.

So, does anyone have suggestions on a good floater (that is not duckweed)? Either a regular floater or a stem plant that also likes to float?

Or are Red Root Floaters not as sensitive to temps as I've read?

I have a ton of red root floaters I haven't seen any issues with temp fluctations. I have some in a few different tanks, my Betta tank goes from 70 to 75 in the winter.

Nice macro shots of the red root floaters!

Looking through the archives, it looks like some have also used Bacopa as floaters, which is an interesting idea.

Think think think....

I wish my red root floater was 'redder'

Otherwise I love it. This tank kills rotala and duckweed - but RRF thrives.
