First tank and some questions

I put this Tetra Cube together this weekend. Iím using a Azoo Mignon 60 filter with biomedia and and aqua clear filter. I know the stock lighting probably wonít cut it, but I like the clean look of the fixture. The tank is 3 gallon 10x10. Any recommendations on a better light with similar moder look? Iím cycling the tank and will eventually add some shrimp in...red cherry. Also would be interested in timer options. Thanks for looking.

What are you carpeting? Looks like the depth is less than 12". Almost anything will work on that depth, but you'll need better coverage, especially towards the front for the carpet. It doesn't look like it's got enough coverage, much less power across the front. I always end up with a desk lamp or something on my small tanks.

Carpeting Monte Carlo. I have some more I can put in there...was hoping it would spread out over a few months. Top of the substrate to the light is about 12 inches.

Monte carlo, I had no luck with that. Ppl say it's easy. Good luck with it. I do think you'll need a better light, your tank is short enough that maybe the cheap nicrew lights will work for the stem plants, but I dunno if it's gonna be enough for monte carlo.
