Question Feeding Cherry Shrimp

I just bought 8 cherry shrimp for my 5 gallon aquarium. I was having a mild algae problem but they've made relatively quick work and have cleared most of it. Do I need to add an algae wafer to feed them now even though there is still some algae or will they be fine continuing to consume the rest of the algae in the tank for the time being?

They will scavenge, but will appreciate being fed.

Is the tank planted?

I have cherries is a 10 gallon and the only thing they will not shred and consume is the Java fern. And the anubias petite.

But there are quite a few in there lol..
I am most likely overstocked. I started with 3...

I use regular flake fish food because it's cheap and I'm not trying to breed and sell these guys or anything but they seem content with it.

I have some Staurogyne repens carpeting the bottom of the tank and they look amazing.

The contrast of the cherries on the green is captivating.

You can also give the shrimps some veggies like a zucchini slice
