Before and after trimming Hemianthus Micranthemoides in my Fluval Spec V

Trimming before and after on water change day. Planted a lot of the tops in amongst the struggling Glosso. HM grows like mad in this tank. Everything else struggles, melts and dies. This tank even kills duckweed which sucks because I love floaters.

Even get uneven growth on the same plant. Third pic is showing how this stems new growth is schizophrenic, one part looks fine, other part - of the same stem - is stunted.

13 watt Philips cfl in a brooder lamp
Pressurized CO2
Osmocote Plus in the substrate
EI dosing with seachem liquid ferts
Photoperiod of about 8 hours per day

Probably buying a finnex planted plus 24/7 CC this weekend on Amazon. Would be the first time I would own a *real* planted aquarium light. I've always been diy poor man's lighting with CFLs.

Heh, I just put most of my duckweed down the drain. My tank was going in cycles. The duckweed would grow, then would die off. I figured out it would grow after adding more ferts. I was having a lot of die off with all my plants. I think the osmocote in the substrate is finally gone. Are you going to run it in 24 hour mode? I was looking at that light too.

When live gives you lemons make a lemon drop.

I don't want to shock my plants by switching from a 13watt cfl to the bigger brighter fixture, so I'll be running at around 50% intensity using the 24/7 mode and ever so slowly increase the intensity as I find the right balance with my co2 and ferts.

Today!

After work. Not enough time this morning to fiddle around with this thing. I don't want to just leave it blasting my tank all day.
