Multiple Filters on Fluval Spec 3

Iím using a fluval spec tank, the 2.5 gallon one right now just for growing plants. I like the stock filter that comes with it and the tank is extremely clean and doesnít often get dirty.

I have another Nano tank running on a sponge filter. I wanted to replace the sponge filter on this tank with my azoo mignon 60 hanging filter I just bought. Itís the hanging filter a lot of people use on their Nano tanks W the included sponge filter or whatever.

My question is, could I run that old sponge filter as an additional filter for the fluval? I have a brand new replacement sponge. Just wondering if that would be pointless to run a sponge filter with the fluval spec at the same time with the stock filtration?

Not sure why you would want to add clutter to such a small tank. I have a Spec V with fish and shrimp and find the filter to be more than adequate

Are you trying to cycle the tank with the old sponge filter? If yes, it makes sense. I find the filter in the Fluval 2.6 to be more than enough filtration.
