Diatoms + plants = ?

I am planning to add plants to my tank tomorrow and I was wondering if the diatom would spread to the plants or would the plants absorb the excess nutrients?
These are the plants i am getting:
Pista stratiotes ◊ 1
Cryptocoryne wendtii green ◊ 2
Hygrophila Polysperma ◊ 2
Sagittaria Sabulata ◊ 3

Hi clarabelle2003,

Welcome to TPT!

Diatoms are not plant related but are silicon based microalgae and can occur in planted or unplanted tanks. If you haven't had diatoms in the past I would not expect you to have diatoms occur after adding plants to your tank. If diatoms do show up adding an Otocinclus catfish or two provides an effective biological control.

BTW, Hygrophila polysperma is on the USDA Noxious Weed list.
