Layout of a new starter - suggestions?

Here's a quick start of a new set up - just filled it and starting the fishless cycle phase - just using rocks from existing tank - not sure if it works, any suggestions what to do with the aquascape? Maybe line the front with carpet plant of some sort to start as well?

Feel free to say it looks horrible...that's why I"m posting to get critique!

I was going to get some Mopani wood, but didn't want to deal with the tannins.

Boil the wood to remove tannins. I'm not good at aquascaping so I'm probably not the right person to give advise on that aspect.

I am a beginner myself -so take my advice with a grain of salt because I have no idea what those plants are- but when they grow in I would take the two plants on the right and but them in the back and switch sides.

The middle would go on the back right and the right would go back left. Or do them in a repeating pattern. Middle then right, middle then right, etc.

It may look wierd if you let it get too mixed though so it would require upkeep...
