1.5g planted vase. Help me make better.

So I started this 1.5g vase today. Soil capped with diamond blasting sand. So far used plants I had, micros sword and java fern. I'm looking for ideas to make it look better. Thinking of some red rotala for the back ground. This vase gets indirect light from a sunless window all day. No heater, just an airstone.

It really looks better in person. Needs some work though.

Can you light it up just for a picture?

I tried to make the pictures look better, but at the size they are it's difficult to get a good look at the tank. You might want to try uploading to imgur and embedding them here (copy forum bbcode). I think adding a small desk lamp over the top would make it pop out further from the ambient lighting, and I'm sure the plants would appreciate it too.

Something like this with a cool or neutral white led bulb would work great, or whatever style you think would fit with the room. Cheers!

Changed my mind and going to use this instead.

A little spiderwood to start.

Looks fun. I like my little marina 0.9g for ?scape experiments. For me, I like to try for some really interesting scale and depth illusions. I?m not good at it, but I enjoy trying.
So, I?d suggest more stone in your scape, and to make the spiderwood look like it?s been mingling with that stone for decades. If I knew exactly how to do that, I?d tell you. Lots of good inspiration is a google away - like John Pini?s Aquatic Experience tanks.

I can only grow plants when they're completely under water. Everything else is doomed.

Tank has been taken down. Might use for land plants in a terranium.
