aqueon evolve planted tank startup

I have what I think is an aqueon evolve 8.
The main tank holds about 5.5 gallons, and the back filter sump holds around 2 is gallons. I have no box, it?s from a garage of someone I know, and they aren?t sure. Dimensions of the tank to come when I get a ruler (recently moved)

The tank is cycling, but has pond snails(hitchhikers from the plant, an amazon sword) 4 ghost shrimp and a betta.
Doing water changes as ammonia gets too rough, and I check water 3 times daily to be sure that my inhabitants in the fish in cycle are ok.

Right now I?m running a 6 watt cfl to supplement the stock lighting. Searches online said that the stock led was low light range, and after a couple days I?d agree. No plant growth but no wilting and the plant has even snapped back a bit from my store.
I?m the aquatic specialist st my Lfs, and got the sword cheap because it was not getting light from our over stocked plant tank.
My filter is filter floss, and ceramic rings, and a big chunk of carbon infused filter that I got from my store cheap.

Ok so now on to my plans!

I want to put one, MAYBE 2 or 3 assasins in this tank, knowing that I have a free daily supply of pond snails as the main food source from work.

The pond snails are my algae crew, and I might add some mts depending on if I can get enough that one assasin will leave just a few left to breed with so many snails in my tank.

I eventually want to get back into co2 injection, gave experience doing low tech about 4 years ago or so, it went very well, but because of life I haven?t been able to have a tank again until very recently.

My plants are the back wall of this tank having a grid with Java moss attached, and completely green.

The floor I would like to have either dwarf baby tears or dwarf hairgrass, not sure which yet, but I feel like the betta and shrimp would prefer the grass as they can get down into it and hide and relax.

Other than the amazon sword maybe a crypt, maybe some anubias.
Essentially I want a very well grown in green garden of planted awesome in this tiny cube.

Maybe if the hairgrass allows it;m, I could get away with some crystal shrimp and ditch the ghosts, but for now the betta would probably eat them.

The substrate is just over an inch of searches fluorite, and I haven?t capped it with anything, but may sprinkle gravel for the carpet to root into if necessary.

Will have to read a bit more on what?s new with nutrient additives, I used the flourish line with iron and potassium and such, and it always did well.

So a few questions to end this wall of text.

A 15 or 20 watt cfl 5600k bulb should do the trick, because it?s about the depth of my old 20 long, and 2 of those put me in the golden zone for light with co2.

I have no experience with led, and know it?s about par now not Watts, but does anyone have some direction as far as good reading for that, or suggestions for cheaper lighting setups for this style tank? I?m excited to brows the search bar, haven?t been here in years, and figured I?d make a quick post first.
Thanks for reading and wish me luck!
