IM Fusion 10 new setup

Hey all, just tore down my 10 gal reef and decided to go with freshwater planted tank. This will be low tech tank, with abubias nana petite and needle leaf java fern. I will put some crypts in background. May use some mosses too. We will see. lol
This is my initial hardscape so far. Any suggestions or critique appreciated.

Yay, more planted nanos!

I guess I could recommend some sort of rock(s). With what you have now, any pH neutral rock would work. Especially with small tanks, I like to have rocks for more surface area in-tank. Plant selection seems good, nothing to really add there.

What?s your thoughts on fauna?

Maybe some shrimp and scarlet badis? Not for sure yet. Might go with a show quality betta and suitable tank mates. Im not fond of rocks too much but might add a few with moss attached to them.

I think the scarlet badis are interesting and really quite pretty, but I?m turned off by the reported finicky eating and behavior. I rarely do live foods, and most recommendations say that?s what the badis needs. A couple males and a few females in 10g could be a nice tank, most folks suggest species only.
The betta is a no-brainer easy choice, which is why so many of us have them. I?d advise getting all intended tankmates in place well before adding the betta. Of my two, one seems to ignore shrimp and snails while the other tolerates exactly zero companions.
Either way, I think a setup as you have it - plus plants - will work. So, please enjoy making the scape, and share updates!

Udate on hardscape

I took your advice and got some rocks. I think they are dragon stones. I plan to attach some moss to them. I also picked up a light. Here are pics of scape and the light.

They don't look like dragon stone, but I like the look more now. The stones definitely add some contrast and texture that is otherwise missing in the substrate. I also like that you uncovered the base joint of the wood. I'm looking forward to seeing plants in this.

Hey, Nano_Dan77!

Nice looking start! I like the IM tanks, and am considering one or two myself. Could I ask what light you put over it please?

Thanks!

Aquariums. They keep your sleeves wet.

Cycling set up

Well, its been awhile so I thought I would update progress on tank. Not much. LOL I did fill the tank up and now waiting for it to cycle but its going slow.
I put in ammonia to start with then added bacteria couple days later. After a week nothing. Ammonia is at 1.0 ppm and no nitrites or nitrates yet.
Did a 50% water change and added more bacteria. Hope it starts cycling soon. It took a week for the driftwood to sink, but its ok now. I am waiting for plants I ordered. Here's pic as it stands now.
