Fluval Spec III office tanks

Last year I figured I spent enough time at work that I should be able to enjoy a little of my hobby away for home. Started with one Spec III. Outfitted it with a Stingray. Nothing fancy, just a heater and some overruns from my home tank. No CO2, just a timer and a heater. Inmates are a nerite snail and betta. First picture is initial setup. Second/third pictures are a year later. Added a second Spec III (pictures four/five) about six months ago. Was my daughter's bedroom tank, but it was under-utilized. I traded it for a small TV . Kept the included light, added a timer and heater. Added a nerite and betta to it. Weekly 50% water change; dose a tiny bit of baking soda, Ca, Mg, and K; and cull plants when I need to. Quite and carefree. These tanks have already spurred a 20G in another department and has raised interests about aquariums with other co-workers.

Must be nice to have that at work. Nice growth you have going on. Is this with the stock light?

Looks good. Here's the Spec III that I had in my office a couple of years ago:

It is - soothing. The top one with the anubias has a Finnex Stingray. The bottom Windelov fern tank is stock lighting.

No C02? What about excel / metricide? Those look fantastic. I have some windolev that I'm wanting to put in mine, but I'm hesitant to remove it from my high tech tanks. I didn't have the best luck with ferns of any type in low tech tanks. It's really packed into a dense little area right now. I'd love to move it over if others have had success with stock lighting and no dosing. I want to use it to raise Gertrude fry so no dosing of anything.

No CO2 or carbon additives. I've had tons of success with all ferns in low tech tanks. A few of my early offerings were >70% ferns and densely packed. They grow slowly, but well enough to have to harvest several times a year. The ones in my office tanks grow even slower, but I'm fine with that.
