Not a single 5 gallon standard tank around

I've been to 3 Petcos, and 1 Petsmart and there is not a single 5g tank to be found. The one petco that I always saw a stock of them at, has close permanently to my surprise when I pulled up the location on google maps.

The only 5-10g tanks were the All-in-one deals that were 4x the price. Sometimes it's like the world is just tellin you to spend a lil extra.

So in a heated moment I pulled up google search, scrolled through the results on the first page, clicked a link, and ordered a 7.5g Penn Plax radius.

All I really wanted was a tank that was less than 17" that could sit on the bottom shelf of my Spec V DIY stand. A standard 5g would have been perfect even at the full $15 price. I've seen em on DPG sale only about once a year and can't wait that long.

Hi FishRFriendz,

Aqueon (aka All-Glass) discontinued the 5 gallon size some time ago, they still make the 5-1/2 gallon size but it may be a special order. I don't believe that Marineland makes the 5 gallon either. It is a small tank, you might try making them yourself if you need that particular size.

Try a local pet store rather than a big box place.

Ooo had a thought, emergency tank I had to buy when my RCS tank started leaking a couple months back. Walmart has some. They had kits for like $25 and tank only for like $15. Might be worth cruising through.

Ah the 5-1/2 gallon would have been fine too. Pretty much any cheap box with a small enough footprint.

I could have tried waiting for the stores to get back in stock, but that's kinda iffy and I'm in a crunch. They wouldn't commit to saying they definitely would have more come in the next week...

So now I just gotta wait for the 7.5 to arrive. In the meantime, time to rig up some DIY lighting on the inside of my stand.
