Plants melting?

Hi folks, I just started my first planted tank a little over a week ago. I am using amazonia aqua soil substrate with some osmocote plus at the bottom. The ammonia levels are around 4 ppm. I thought the plants would absorb it but it seems like they are getting ammonia burn/ melting.

I have done 2 50% water changes over the last two weeks and jus started seachem stability a couple of days ago but the ammonia level is still at 4ppm.

I am wondering if I should just do even larger wc every other day or continue with seachem stability to see if it will work? Its a 5 gallon tank.

Thanks

It's normal for new plants to melt, they're adjusting to they're environment. They could of been grown emersed, so now they have to convert to submerged growth.

Thanks. I do see tiny leaves growing on a couple of plants. Perhaps I just need to be patient
