5 gallon mini bow

going to start a nano tank using this set up. it came with an intake tetra whisper filter, should i use this or get a HOB filter? i feel i would have more room with the HOB, and a recommendation on one for a 5 gal.

thank you.

It all depends on your taste. I would probably go with an HOB filter, or invest in a Tom Rapids Mini Canister filter. But it's all up to you.

I have a minibow 2.5 and I replaced the filter. The tetra whisper filter takes up WAY to much room. You'll notice a huge difference once you replace it. As for filter recommendations it all depends on what you'll keep in the tank. If you are going to keep just shrimp many people use sponge filters. But if you intend to keep shrimp and fish get an HOB filter and cover the intake. Good luck setting up your tank!

I use an Elite mini internal filter. It's nice and small and 2 out of 3 of my minibows sit on my entertainment center so an HOB scares me above all those electronics.

I agree that the Whisper that comes with it is just too big and not all that efficient.
