10Gal First tank in a while

Hi,

I'm looking to setup a 10Gal tank with approx. 1.4WPG (Hagen Flora-Glo). I'm looking to use a normal sand substrate (not flourite) and Java fern/moss and anubias, I'd be greatful if you could advise me on the following:
  • Do I plant the roots into the sand or tie onto rocks/bogwood?
  • Do I need to add ferts/CO2?
  • Do I need more lighting for the plants I have mentioned?

Fauna I'm thinking 6 x neons or harlequin rasbora's or ember tetra's.

I think it would be fine to plant the roots into the substrate or tie them on the wood without much of a problem, just do whichever one you want. Ferts and c02 are optional, but I think you would need them if you had a tank with 4+ watts per gallon or if you want much more growth. Im not sure if your lighting is sufficient enough for those plants because i dont currently own them.

If you bury the rhizome of the anubius it will rot. They need to be tied to something or weighted down.

I have an eclipse 6 gal - which has very low light & my crypts are doing well.

Both those plants & the java ferns are low light plants.

I do dose excel, seacheme comprehensive & use fert tabs.

I love gardening & see how well terrestrial plants do when fertilized so figure aquatic plants will do better w/ a bit of food also.

The substrate is flourite.

I have a betta & 2 snails - so no advice on the fish!
