Fluval Spec V pump orientation

Hello. I'm trying to figure out how to position the pump for my Fluval Spec V. The instructions weren't clear and I haven't been able to find any info online. Should the intake for the pump be placed facing the opening at the bottom or should it be facing a wall? Does it matter? Any help would be muxh appreciated! Thanks!

That's true and all. But I got my pump stuck in there and I can't get it out now. The last time I took it out for cleaning, I stuffed it back in without thinking too much about it.

U guys got any suggestions?

Obviously you can pull up on the cord and the flexible outlet tube. At some point the outlet tube will probably get pulled out of the pump.

It tends to get wedged at an angle when you do that. I use the wooden handle of a spoon to jockey it around - put it in the discharge cylinder of the pump to keep it level as you pull up on the cord.
