My friend has a 13W PC 6500K over a mini S (~3.5G) with AS soil and his UG is awesome. No CO2, just a small filter.

I've found that UG actually does pretty well in the shadier parts of my tank, although it does have co2 and ferts.

I have it in my Mini-M (I think like 4.5 gal?) under a 26 watt light. It was doing beautiful until some leaves started to melt..I think I let it get too tall and underneath it started to wither....anyone else had this happen? I just hacked a ton away yesterday and it looks kind of ugl right now but hoping it fills back in like it was before.
