Orange Sakura missing in evolve8

Hi guys, I've run in to a dilemma. As the title states, I'm missing 10 Orange Sakura that I recently put in to one of those little Aqueon Evolve8 AIOs. I saw one hanging out in the back of the filter area by the pump, and when I tried to catch him he disappeared as well. After doing a little snooping, I found a hidden area underneath the filter area that I wasn't aware was open. I've checked under the driftwood, around the plants, and I can't find any of the rest. They are the only inhabitants of the tank, so a muncher isn't a problem here. In case you're wondering how they got into the back, a portion of the foam I had blocking the intake slipped down, and a few of the vents were open. I'm guessing they slipped through that. I have since addressed that issue, but I am trying to figure out how to get the ones that (I hope) are hidden back there. I was thinking a fish net with something they would snack on sitting in the back part of the tank might draw them out, but I'm not sure what I would need to entice them. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the ramble, and thanks in advance for any tips.

Can you turn off the filter, then open it up to net them out?

There's a false bottom below the filter area, and they're under that (I think). If I had to guess, it's a 4"x5"x2" space under there that I can't get to.

Is there some type of veggie or food that they would typically go after? I haven't had them long enough to experiment on different foods. I'm thinking something that would stay in a fish net might work best.

That might be the option I have to go with if luring them into a net with food doesn't work. I think it might be a bit difficult to siphon them out due to the size of the area they're in.
