Chris's ADA Mini-M, 5.5 Gallon *Updated 4.18*
Long time reader, first time poster here. I just finished setting up a 5.5 gallon ADA Mini-M tank using the advice from these forums and I'd love to get some feedback from people. I must say this place has been great for help, it's really impressive how cordial and knowledgeable people are when it comes to designing and creating planted aquariums. Most of the ideas for supplies and equipment I've taken from other posts, so thank you very much to all the informative people around here.
This is my second tank right now at my apartment, the first is a 120 gallon Clown Loach tank (you can see part of it to the right in one of the photos). I've been keeping fish for about 10 years or so, but never a purely planted tank - this nano is pretty much new to me. Eventually once the plants grow in I plan on adding a few cherry shrimp.
One question I have is for the amount of light that should be allowed. I have the timer set to 8 hours on, 16 hours off. What do most people recommend?
Here's what I have setup so far:
5.5 Gallon ADA Mini-M
Aqua Soil Amazonia II
5 lb CO2 tank with AZOO regulator from Dr. F&S
(8 hours on, 16 hours off, synced with the light)
27 Watt Compact Fluorescent "Sun Light" from Lights of America
Tetra submersible mini heater
Rapids Mini Canister Filter
JBJ 12 Gallon Nano Cube Stand
Mini-Pellia on the way for the driftwood
