2.5g @ Work

I just put together a 2.5g nano at my office to provide a little distraction. The plan is to stay low-tech, and stock with suitable plants and probably shrimp.

Here are the specs:

Tank: 2.5g Aquaeon
Substrate: ADA Amazonia Aquasoil II
Light: Hampton Bay desk lamp from Home Depot
Filter: AquaClear 20

Flora:
  • Bolbitis
  • Anubias barteri var. nana 'narrow leaf'
  • Marimo moss ball

I'll let the pictures tell the story of the first few days of this tank's life.

My next step is to procure some moss for the driftwood, though I haven't decided what type yet.

I'd also like a little sparse ground cover. Any suggestions for low-tech ground plants?

Once the tank is established, it will become home to some kind of shrimp to-be-determined.

I'm a huge fan of Marsilea minuta and should do very well in your tank (I find it loves Aquasoil): http://www.plantgeek.net/plant-287.htm

Check out my Mini-M journal for how a carpet of it looks.

what do other workers say about having a fish tank in their office? Cool tank but i find the DW to be distracting.

That looks like exactly what I want, thanks for the tip! I'll see if I can order some online.
