Need Help!!!!!!

This is my first nano tank, and I need ALOT of help. I was going to build planted (duh) nano tank. I had a few questions like how big of a tank 5 or 2.5 gallons, what plants should I use, and what fish and inverts? I would love as much help as I can get and it will be appreciated. I would also like to go pretty low tech. And does anyone know about lighting, like what kind, how much, etc. Thanks.

The size of tank that you want is up to you. Either a 2.5 or a 5 gallon tank will be fine for a nano tank. Some people also consider anything smaller than (and including) a 10 gallon tank to be "nano".

Some common plants that are used in nano aquariums are: HC, HM, Dwarf Hairgrass, Blyxa japonica, and Glosso. Of course, the choice of plants depends on the amount of lighting (and fertilizers and CO2, subsequently) that you have.

As for fish and invertebrates, again, it depends on the size of your tank. Some fish for a nano tank are listed in the sticky at the top of this section. As for invertebrates, many people like RCS and/or CRS.

I just decided to start with a 2.5. Just one question what are some good low light plants? I don't know much about plants for this small a tank. And what does HC and HM stand for? Thanks for the help.

You could do mosses, there are many types, and Crypt parva. Also good is Crypt willisii x lucens. They stay small. Java var wendelov would work too. Another is Anubias barteri nana petite or nana gold.

HM = Hemianthus micranthemoides. HC = Hemianthus callitrichoides. Both of these plants are high light.

Marsilea minuta will also work and is low light.

Check the plant profiles for other choices as well.

Just keeping on keeping on....

Please check the other thread that you started. I have responded there as well.

In the future, try to refrain from cross-posting, and in addition, try to refrain from bumping your own threads so soon.
