Hi, I have 4 cories (long fin peppered) who are often in mating mode. I don't do anything with the eggs as I have no space or time to figure it all out. But, today I saw one Cory baby in my tank!! Soooo cool. Maybe the heavy plant cover saved them from my gourami.
Ive just recently got into breeding fish myself. It is very exciting seeing fish grow and mature in time. It doesn't matter if you found them by accident and had no part in its occurrence or put two fish together to spawn- its always a wonderful surprise to find the little ones.
Congratulations!
Congrats. If you have plenty of hiding spots corys tend to have one every so often that makes it to be big enough to survive.
Ive gone from 6 false juliis to 9. Have not scene a baby in a long while but my daughter saw one today who was beyond the eating size (about 3/8" in my tank). Its always fun when they get big enough to come out adventuring with everyone else.
Ha, thanks all! I feel like such a proud momma!! My cories are going at it again, so would be awesome if a few more showed up in the future. They are such a cool fish to watch. Other than the gourami, who is the queen of the tank, my other fish are micro, so maybe!!!
It's always a nice surprise when unexpected young appear. I somehow ended up with 3 Corydoras sterbai x metae hybrids in a community tank packed with Java moss.
Love these surprises and cory fry are just so cute!
I was able to maintain a diamond tetra school this way - through surprises. I found first just one fry, then about 2 months later another single fry. They had apparently been able to hide out in a large clump of moss I had in the tank. A couple of years later, the original school started to die off but I had 2 remaining that I'm guessing were these 2 fry, now adults and fortunately a male/female combo. Over about a year I gained 7 more from this pair, 2 or 3 at a time. The moss is no longer in there, but I'm thinking I should add it again.
