Dark rams

Hey everyone it's been a long time since I posted about anything I do here so ..
I do rams in particular now ..I breed other special fish also ,but have become a major source for many people around the US , Hawaii , Alaska , and even the Virgin Islands !
I have gotten the rams down to an art. I am passionate about them ..I mix varieties/colors every chance I get and am even trying to create my own color so to speak [red] .
So here are some pictures [ not great] that are from today .

Every body say BLACK !

So this pair was in the 60g with my male disc and clown loaches.
There is maybe 10+ other rams also .
It seemed pretty clear watching they were pairing and I could see their tubes .
So I caught them much to all the fishes efforts against me and placed them in a 5.5 g.
Eggs within hours but I wasn't really sure the male did his thing ?
That was 2 days ago 12/29 and today it is clear the eggs are viable so I am the bandit ..
I just mentioned that I have not yet had a single spawn that was all dark yet ..
Fins crossed and leaving nothing to chance .
This seems to be a great pair so they can stay in their 5g and raise the next batch .
Kind of excited to see a spawn from two such dark [BLACK] parents Ö
To boot their darkness they are both beasts in size even by my standard ..

Got rams ?
Here's what's for sale Ö

Not that I anticipate ever breeding them (or really any fish) again, but I'd love to hear your care regimen on fry. The breeding part was easy enough, but I lost a higher percentage of ram fry than even supposedly more-fragile Apisto species. Rams are tiny things at hatching, and I never mastered raising live foods smaller than microworms and wonder if that was an issue. I'm guessing infusoria are standard first food? Also had a lot of crappy parent fish that did things such as eat eggs the first few tries. But at the time, imported fish were all I had access to that I didn't raise myself. Also, all of my breeding tanks were 20 longs, and it sounds like a smaller enclosure is preferable because it ensures the food is found. Thanks in advance for any tips you wish to share. What I'd have given for the internet to have been what it is today in the 90's!

Nothing good happens fast in an ecosystem.

All my rams first food is fresh hatched BBS. Got no other live food in the fish room.
Raising fry is mastered only through experience . You need to feed and change water just like in big fish tanks maybe even more since usually overfeeding is common.
I mastered artificial hatching so now some of my rams raise their own just to mock me and my efforts ! None learn fast but some do turn out to be incredible parents .

My other account here on TPT [ coralbandit ] has links to my videos where there is a little more explanation but it really is feed and change water .
I think they still say rams are not easy fish to raise ...

OK the eggs in the beginning of the last video have hatched and are free swimming ..
They are the single largest improvement in my progress to locking in the darks
I know nothing but can read and have rams ..
This spawn is 25% gold and 75% dark ! Every spawn before has been 50/50 gold and dark .
I have been on these fish since 2017 so no quick process. My first dark from my own breeding were 9 /11/ 18
Never better then 50/50 .
So this 25/75 is huge .It is even described in a link in Discus luv thread ..I have 25% D/D , 50% D/d and 25% D/g I believe ??
Here you go ..

In other major hurdles for the fishroom my discus fry are outstanding and I think ready to be on their own ..I resist separating them from mom every minute now !Over 20 ..
And as exciting as new discus is I found several 2-4 week old fry in one of my Alien betta tanks !
I now accept that I have magic water ..

Got rams ?

Maybe it's the quality tunes they get to jam out to in your fishroom!
