Talking Panda Cory fry!

My pandas have started spawning! If you want more of the story, check out my 29 gallon journal. I wanted to post a quick recap of the last month here since it doesn't get much traffic. Here's just a few of the pictures I've taken. * I am not trying to cross-breed cories, nor introduce them into the trade, just boosting my population and breeding for a few relatives.

Marina breeder box setup:

Fry nearly ready to eat:

Belly full of BBS

Moving to the 10 gallon for grow-out!

The oddity: Different coloration, but it is not as old as some of the others. It only has one, tiny recessed eye. There is a male C. trilineatus, could there have been some crossbreeding? I guess time will tell.

Here's a not-so clear picture showing the difference in coloration between the unique fry and normal fry.

Yep, panda cory babies are awesome Mine have been breeding in my community tank, both old setup (33G) and new (66G). I didn't remove the eggs, just let them do their thing - and the herd has grown from the original six to close to thirty!

Cory babies are cool. My girls love em. I haven't had any in a while but still get alot of eggs. My juliis went from 6 to 9. If I get a bigger tank mayberry and save some of the eggs to grow out.

Congrats on the babies

Are these hybrids, or some kind of mutation? If they are hybrids, what other cories are you keeping with them?

there’s one possible cross with a male C trilineatus, like I stated in the post. I only saw pandas spawning, but I know I didn’t see it every time.

I only have one species of cory, but was considering getting another and I wasn't sure of the likelihood of cross breeding if I kept them together. I guess I should do some homework and see if there are some combos more or less likely to interbreed.

.
Apparently pandas are notorious for crossing. I have 7 pandas and 1 false julii (male). All I’m hoping for is to provide some for family members and keep my population.
